Teams: Fill in coach for all Capital teams

My Cheer Journey

I’ve been involved in cheerleading for about 15 years, starting at age 5 with recreational cheer. Over time, those year-end performances evolved into competitive recreational cheer by the time I reached middle school.

My first experience with All Star cheer came in 10th grade when I joined a new local gym, Cheer Tyme. I was a flyer on a Junior Level 3 team. By my senior year, I made it onto Cheer Tyme’s Worlds team, Love. I was a side base, main base, and occasionally a backspot.

In addition to All Star cheer, I was on varsity cheer at Chantilly High School for four years, serving as a flyer and captain my senior year. After high school, I continued cheering at Coastal Carolina University for two years, where I supported football, men's and women’s basketball, and occasionally volleyball.

For the last 5 years, I have been coaching cheer, high school back at my Alma Mater Chantilly High School and over the past 3 years at Capital.

My Coaching Style

I really like to focus on the little things, motion placement, footwork, transitions, dance, and performance. All of the in between things. Cohesion is very important to score well and can really impact you to stand out both positively and negatively.

My Tips for Athletes

1. You are a product of your mindset.
If you want to level up, it starts with how you think. Stay dedicated, practice with purpose and intention, never settle, and always push for progress and perfection. The way you approach challenges mentally will shape the kind of athlete and person you become.

2. You win competitions at practice!
Your results at competition are decided long before you step on the competition mat. The way you practice every single day is everything. The little details matter. Don’t be okay with just being okay, show up not just to go through the motions, but to get better, even when things already look good. Strive for sharp technique, clean execution, and consistency, that’s what separates good from great.

3. Talk to your coaches — we’re here for you.
We’re not big, scary monsters! We’re here because we love this sport and we want to help you succeed. If you have a big skill goal we’re ready to help you get there. If you had a hard day at school or you're feeling off, let us know. We want practice to be your happy place, just like it was (and still is) for all of us.
